Shaping the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs
Student Ventures is our Entrepreneurship for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) program that equips young inventors and innovators of ages 14-18 with the skills, mindset, and tools needed to innovate, solve real-world problems, and transform ideas into viable businesses or impactful projects.
Futures Infinite collaborates with the Kenya Science and Engineering Fair (KSEF), an annual event that showcases innovative science, technology, and engineering projects by students from primary to tertiary levels; the Association of Countrywide Innovation Hubs in Kenya; and, the Association of Start-up and SME Enablers in Kenya, the Futures Tech and Innovation Hub; and the Kenya Innovation Agency.
By blending technical expertise with entrepreneurial principles, Entrepreneurship for STEM fosters critical thinking, creativity, and adaptability, enabling learners to identify opportunities, design innovative solutions, and address global challenges like climate change, healthcare, and technological advancement.
This approach emphasizes problem-solving, design thinking, and project-based learning, encouraging students to apply STEM knowledge to practical scenarios. Students are introduced to core entrepreneurial competencies, including market research, business model development, financial management, and pitching ideas. It also nurtures essential soft skills like leadership, teamwork, resilience, and networking. Learners also receive mentorship, industry partnerships, and access to technology and resources, providing a supportive ecosystem for innovation.
Entrepreneurship education in STEM is particularly vital in preparing young people for the future workforce, where interdisciplinary knowledge and entrepreneurial agility are highly valued. By inspiring learners to view challenges as opportunities, it promotes innovation and economic growth while addressing societal needs.
“Imparting young entrepreneurs with entrepreneurial skills within their schooling environment and familiar surroundings, throughout their academic journey, is the most effective tool through which to develop practice, critical mindsets and enterprising skillset. Importantly, this builds leadership acumen, shaping and accelerating people of high potential who will lead across the public and private sector spectrum.”
